For an individualized education program, rely on The Emerson Academy in Studio City, CA. We provide an inclusive alternative education curriculum for all. Founded by Sonia Roman in 2001, this is a dynamic, small school where each student from grades 7-12 can express their intellect and creative spirit through a myriad of academic and artistic avenues. We encourage students to be daring, original, inquisitive, and intuitive. Over the years, the number of students who have enrolled in The Emerson Academy with IEPs from public schools has increased.
We have always been a small school; we have served hundreds of students. The majority of Emerson students are enrolled for an average of three years. Of the students who received diplomas, sixty percent attended community colleges, twenty percent of them went on to a four-year college, and the remainder have reported going directly into the work force.
Throughout the history of the Emerson Academy, at least fifty percent of our students have been identified with specific learning disabilities requiring targeted help in reading and math. Typically, most students are of normal to high intelligence. As Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Every mind has its own method.”
